A couple of weeks ago, we stayed in the Frangipani room and it was fantastic. Being extremely cosy and spacious, it accomodates 2 people plus luggage comfortably. Along with the bathroom which was recently renovated, the room was in immaculate condition with the upstairs private roof deck providing a great place to relax after a nice day paddling on the river.

Equipped with a TV, dvd player, ipod docking alarm clock, bar fridge and kettle we had all the creature comforts to make us feel at home away from home.

John and his family really went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible with the highlight being a delicious breakfast in the cafe. They even went so far as to place a jar of delicious homemade biscuits in the room to welcome us.

All in all we throughly enjoyed our time at the Boatshed and highly recommend it!

  2. Hi Tim & Elisa – thanks for posting a comment, and for your supportive observations. We’re glad the weekend was everything you expected and that you were able to celebrate that special event in a memorable way.

13-14 Aug 2010 – We came for lunch Friday afternoon and sat on the upstairs balcony overlooking the river. The Cafe is open to the public, the was food was delicious, service great and the view and atmosphere beautiful and relaxing. We stayed in the Frangipani room which had been recently refurbished beautifully & very modern. Apart from having everything you could need for a ‘getaway’ stay – the comfort is something that we wanted to mention. Everything was so comfy, the lovely wooden floors, amazingly soft bath robes, bedding, heating, everything thought of. If you like board games or movies they have a room full of them to borrow. Next day we had breakfast on the sun drenched balcony – they’re coffee is to die for and once again the atmosphere of looking out over the river and watching the neighbours going by in their boats, waving and smiling. We live in a neighbouring suburb and had no idea there was a place as fantastic as this to have a getaway. It’s so reasonable for everything it offers! Thanks again John & Jane, we’ll be back!

  7. Hi Amanda,
Our main rooms are booked out for that weekend, but we may be able to offer some alternatives. Please call on 02 9545 2584 to let us know your requirements.
    Thanks for your enquiry.
    Jon & Jane Bell

  8. Thanks for your supportive comments; we’re really glad you enjoyed your visit and look forward to catching up with you again. It’s especially nice when people come to stay from neighbouring suburbs, as it endorses our aim to be a “Get Away without Going Away” destination. This time of year it is so pleasant on the balcony – sunny but not too hot – although one regular customer has already predicted we will need awnings for the summer! Coffee beans are “Cherry Lane” from Nadine’s in Kirrawee.

I was recently in Sydney for a friends 40th not far from the Boatshed, in Sutherland. My friend found the accommodation via the internet and the boatshed proved to be PERFECT accommodation. I was hesitant at first as i’m not normally a fan of B&B’s, for fear of feeling like you are in someones house. Not the case at the Boatshed.
I am from Central West NSW and often need to visit Sydney for a variety of reasons. Not all of these need to mean staying in the heart of Sydney with views of the bridge and close to the CBD – with huge price tags attached!!
Why was it so good?? The friendly welcome from John and Jane! The smell of Jane’s homemade biscuits wafting up the hallway! The ultra comfy rooms! The VERY reasonable price! The beautiful breakfast the next morning! All in all – thanks to John & Jane for a lovely stay. We have reccommended it to our friends out here in the bush!

  13. Thanks for your kind comments, Kylie – we’re certainly aiming not to be in the “normal” B&B style (but not in the same way that Basil Fawlty is not a normal hotel manager!).

We look forward to having you stay with us again.
    Regards – Jon

Hello, we would like to stay for the night of the 27th November to celebrate a birthday. Would you please let me know if you have any rooms available and how much it would cost?

  15. Hi Carmen. Thanks for your enquiry but unfortunately our double rooms are all booked out that weekend.

Wonderful Woronora, a valley paradise 15 miles south of central Sydney. Stayed in the ‘Boathouse’, woken each morning by white cockatoos, kookaburras and red and green parrots! Jon and Jane made us feel as if we were “at home on holiday”. Coming from England and staying for 2 weeks it was like heaven.
    100% recommended !

  17. Hi Looking forward to hire a kayak/canoe drove down on the 17/1/11 could not enter the site workman blocking the entrance I will try again in the near future looks a beautiful spot for relaxation.

We stayed at the boatshed over the New Year period, great place to stay! The rooms were fantastic value and we throughly enjoyed Jon & Jane’s relaxed hosting style. Would definately stay again!

    Tina, Dennis & Madeline.

  19. Hi Brian – we had as much notice as you did that the drive would be blocked. A knock on the door at 8am asking if we wanted to get any cars out before they dug up the footpath in 10 minutes time. I believe some people got a letter on Friday evening. Pedestrians should have been able to get in, though, so I’m sorry you had a wasted trip. Council only put the footpath in a couple of months ago, too.
Hope you make it back soon.

  20. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and we managed to give a reasonable impression of being relaxed! Sometimes we feel like ducks on a fast river; looks effortless on top but paddling like crazy below the surface!
We enjoyed having you stay with us and look forward to the next time.

Hi there, was interested in the accommodation. When will it become available again and the price please.

    Kindest regards,
    Raquel :)

  22. Hi Raquel,
Unfortunately we can’t put a timeframe on availability; it’s not just a simple application as there are a number of factors to address. Be assured that as soon as we can set a date we will be alerting everyone who has left a comment here or made some other expression of interest.
Thanks for your enquiry and I’m sorry we can’t help at this stage.

    Hi Jon,
We had the pleasure of attending a kids birthday party at the sanctuary this Sunday.. The high point of the day was the hiring of canoes from the Boatshed and the kids paddling ‘en masse’ down the river for lunch and a play in the fabulous new play area, as well as doing the Landmark Spotting game you introduced.. What a gorgeous area! Please do let me know when your accommodation becomes available again. We will be back for more kids parties!

  26. Thanks for your comment, Lyn. We’re glad the kids had a good day and enjoyed the spotting game. I bet they had a good sleep that night!
Talking of sleep, we’ll certainly let you know when (if) we are able to take guests again.

    Hi Jon & Jane

What’s the latest with B&B accomodation?
We have family visiting and wish to recommend your business!

    Local Residents.
    Robert & Christine

  28. Seems like we are in a catch-22; it will cost more to gain approval than we’d ever get back as a business.
