  1. Hi there,
Just wondering whether you are open this week. Would love to get the costing on a 3 person canoe for half day hire.
    Regards,
    Cath

  2. Hi Cath,
Very sorry about the delay in replying; email set-up problem means I wasn’t receiving anything.
If you are still interested in canoe hire, we are normally open 7 days a week from 8:30 to 6 but can accommodate other times by request.
A half-day (4hrs) in a three person canoe would be $55 plus $20 deposit (refundable if all paddles, lifejackets and canoe returned intact).
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
    Regards
    Jon

  3. how much is a tinny for four to rent for a day?

  4. Hi Jon,

Just wondering if the boatshed has any Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP Boards) for hire ?
I’ve been paddling the river quite often early mornings and it’s a great workout and generally quite relaxing.
Our dedicated SUP outlet is just located at Barden Ridge so it’s very local.
We are having a free demo day at prince Edward Park on Sat 27th from 1pm.
Call me anytime or visit the website for further info.
    cheers,
    Lou

  5. Hi Lou,
We don’t have any such boards at present; why not call in for a coffee on your way past and we can discuss what might be involved? We are open every morning from 8:30 am and often earlier if a sports group is coming through or we have a specific request.
    Regards
    Jon

  6. Hi Suz,
Again, apologies for the late reply – however, the adsl now appears to be up and stable, as are our tinnies.
Cost for a day’s hire (8:30 am to 5:30 pm) is $140 with a $50 cash deposit against damage, rescue or delay.
Weather is still warm, fish are still biting ….
    Regards
    Jon

  7. Hi Jon, and thanks for the quick reply.

hey, a coffee and a chat sounds good, I will try to get down on Sunday afternoon after we close the showroom.
If you want to email me your contact details that would be great.

If all is good I’ll see you then…
    cheers,
    Lou

    Hi Jon,

I stumbled across this site after looking for some good places to go Kayaking/Canoeing as a great alternative to trekking off to the city.

Just wondering if you do accept EFTPOS/Credit Card to hire boats as this is not listed on your website for methods of payment.

    Please advise.

    Kind regards,
    Marvin

… Also further to the above,

I am a Dragonboater for my team and have my own paddle.

Would I be able to use this?

    Thanks Jon.

  12. Hi Marvin,
Glad you discovered us – something on my website must be working.
Thanks for the pointer about electronic payments; will definitely add something about accepting VISA and Mastercard credit and debit cards (but not American Express or Diners). We have an XPOS-capable terminal so you can buy a fishing licence or a subscription to Better Homes and Gardens magazine at the same time :)
I can’t think of any reason why you could not use your own paddle, apart from some muscle-memory issues about holding a familiar paddle in a possibly unfamiliar sitting position and straining something ….
Hope to see you over the weekend, with or without paddle.
    Regards
    Jon

    Jon,

I am glad that a quick Google search came up with your name!

I appreciate the quick response and the humor; would definitely consider the Better Homes and Garden magazine subscription however that will start triggering a series of (unwanted) questions from my significant other :)

Good pointer on the exercise kinesiology re: the usage of a DB paddle on a canoe. Looks like I might not bring it at all.

Will definitely consider coming over this Anzac long weekend.

    Cheers Jon,
    Marvin

What time do you close this weekend? May 1 and 2. Thank you.

  15. Hi Christina – sorry I missed your comment. I’ll update the website to make the opening hours more obvious. We are open 7 days a week from 8.30 – 6pm (boat hire and kiosk for coffee, icecream and snacks) and 9-4 (Balcony Cafe).
