Building Boats

Projects

Some boat projects currently under way include:

  • Repair of a fibreglass canoe where the hull and deck have been separated;
  • Fitting out a 2.2 m fibreglass rowing boat;
  • Restoring a weather-beaten Whiting Skiff;
  • Building a 4.2 m plywood Rocks River Skiff for rowing;
  • Fitting out a 4.2 m fibreglass rowing boat.

Progress is rather slow on all fronts, but I hope to be able to post some pictures and more details of each project on these pages as things take shape. If anyone wants to get involved in these projects, please feel free to drop in and have a chat about how that might happen.

6ft Mini Boats

The Mini Boat Afloat

While in Tasmania for the Wooden Boat Festival last February, I came across a supplier of kits for making these mini-boats.

Full details are in the attached .pdf file and the boats are intended to be a great project for families or youth groups.

If we can get enough interest we can have our own Regatta on the River!

Advice can be provided if you’re not certain of your skills but construction should  not be beyond the average handyman (or woman).
